Acrow Type Steel Prop

Acrow Props Description & Applications

Acrow Props (adjustable steel props/shore props) are temporary load-bearing supports manufactured to BS EN 12811-1 and BS 4074 standards, made from high-yield carbon steel (Q235/Q345 or equivalent) for durability and strength.

Acrow Props (also called adjustable steel props or shore props) are versatile, temporary load-bearing supports widely used in construction, renovation, and maintenance projects. Typically made of galvanized steel (for corrosion resistance), they feature a threaded height-adjustment mechanism (paired with a locking collar or wing nut) — allowing adaptation to varying space needs (common height ranges: 1.5m to 4.5m; heavy-duty models extend further). Most designs include a top plate (to distribute load evenly on the supported structure) and a base plate (to enhance ground stability), ensuring secure weight transfer.

Concrete Formwork Support

Temporarily hold up concrete slabs, beams, or walls during curing (before the concrete gains structural strength), preventing sagging or deformation.

Structural Renovation & Demolition
Stabilize ceilings, upper floors, or adjacent walls when removing load-bearing elements (e.g., walls, columns) to reduce collapse risks during retrofitting.

Beam/Girder Installation
Secure prefabricated/steel beams/lintels during positioning and permanent fixing, avoiding shifting or misalignment.
Scaffolding Reinforcement

Act as auxiliary bracing for scaffolding structures, or form standalone temporary support frameworks to boost on-site stability.

Foundation Repair & Underpinning
Provide temporary elevation and support for buildings undergoing foundation maintenance/replacement, preserving structural integrity.

Heavy-Duty Construction Projects
High-load Acrow Props (e.g., Power Shore models with 150-ton capacity) are used in large-scale projects (mining, commercial buildings) to build robust temporary support/bracing.

Prefabricated Component Alignment (specialized models)
Inclined Acrow Props (non-vertical use) assist in positioning precast panels (note: these are not suitable for vertical load-bearing).

Critical Usage Limits
Max Extension: Do not exceed the marked open height for each size
Load Application: Vertical compression only (tilt props excepted, max 15° inclination)
Spacing Requirements: Minimum 1.2m apart for standard loads; consult engineering calculations for heavy loads
Certification: Look for CE marking and manufacturer test certificates for compliance assurance
